I am here. lol. Idon't post much anymore but I check the boards every once in awhile. I have
been playing Space marines for....hmm...4 years now I thnk, and Blood Angels for 2 or 3 years. I
kinda have a tactical problem, Orks. I posted this a lot before but I ust can't sem to stop the little
buggers. He has tons of infnty,2 dreads, and an unstoppable Warboss and Nobb bodyguard.
Here is what I have, although not all of it is used.

HQ:

Chaplain- Jumpack, plasma pistol

Deathcompany- Jumpacks

Librarian- Jumpack, Power weapon, bolt pistol

Captain- Terminator armour, power weapon, storm bolter

Captain- Storm bolter, Power weapon.

Honour Guard- (actually just the boxed command squad, the 2nd Captain came with it, y know?)

Yes I now that is to many HQ choices but I am going to give you my complete army, as I said I
don't use it all in one battle...

Elites:

Furioso

Terminator squad

Troops:

22 tactical marines, 3 missile launchers, 3 heavy boltersa, and a lascannon, plus 2 flamers.

These are split into around 3 squads, 2 mounted in rhinos, one mounte in a razor back.

I also have a scout squad and 4 scout snipers.

Fast Attack:

Landspeeder- Multi Melta

Attack Bike- Multi-melta

Bike squad- 1 segeant, one regualr biker, and a biker with a melta gun

Assualt Squad- Sergeant with plasma pistol and power fist 4 other marines w/ bolt pistol and
CCW

Heavy Support:

Baal Predator

Dreadnought- Assault Cannon

Whirlwind

Could possibly take the heavy weapons from the tactical squads and make a devastor squad, but
they aren't always the best choice ya know.

Thats about it I believe....Well thanks for looking at it.

Greetings all!

I've been a Brother Blood Angel for approx. 4 years, starting back in the day when Blood Angels
were just red ultramarines. =P

Tactical problems? Not really tactical per se, more like trying to fit 1-2 rhinos in a 1000 pt army!
Anybody got any ideas? =P

My current list is on BABE's site, it has yet to be battle tested however. I don't like the fact that it
has no rhinos, it has 2 foot slogging tacticals, but the rest is damn mobile with jump packs.

Rhinos are so expensive for BA =P

Must find way, but what to cut? We'll see...

In response to your questions, I offer the following:

1. I have played Blood Angels for approx. 4 years
2. I have particular difficulties dealing with Necrons. I will probably have to re-tool my army to
include more power weapons and assault units to deal with them.
3. This is my current 1500 point army. Your comments would be greatly appreciated:

HQ - Chaplain. bolter, crozius arcanum, rosarius, holy relic

Death Co. - mounted in rhino

Troops -

1. 6 man tactical squad with missle launcher
Mounted in razorback with twin linked bolters

2. 6 man tactical squad with missle launcher
Mounted in razorback with lascannon and twin plasma guns

3. 10 man tactical squad with missle launcher and flamer
Mounted in rhino

4. 5 man sniper squad. 4 sniper rifles. 1 heavy bolter

Assault

1. 9 man assault squad with jump packs. I plasma pistol. 1 veteran sergeant with power fist.

Heavy

1. Predator Destructor with missle launcher, storm bolter pintle mount, heavy bolter sponsons
and twin linked lascannon turret.

2. Predator Ba'al with heavy bolter sponsons and storm bolter pintle mount.

Note: All rhinos and razorbacks have overcharged engines.

Usual tactic is the hammer and anvil. Predators, snipers and Razorbacks and the fire base/anvil.
Rhinos, death co. and assault squad are the hammer.

I do not play BA. But I played a big vs them two days ago. 3500 pts per side 2 detachments,
The Japanese guy I played against has been playing BA for about 10 tp 16 years. yep from
Rouge Trader dayz. He used Dante with houner garde about 10 men, 2 Labrains one with hg
about ten men., 2 dread one of them was for HtH, Land Raider, 2 Dev squads, four or five tac
squads, and a chaplian. and some other things.

I was playing World Eaters, with about 500 pts of Chaos Dark Angels( the lonely thing they did
in the game was kill the Lander raider with a lucky shot most of them never saw the battle) I also
had Kharn, and a Blood thirster, My main comander 180pts ( who was eaten by the Blood
Thirster in the 2nd round) and a lesser comander(dark angels) 5 sqauds of Bezs, 2 dreads, and a
land raider as troop trans for my terms. and more

I thought the game was going to go bad me in the 2nd round, but the terms had a great day, one
squad of bezs and daemon pack and J, kill his Death Company(including the Chaplian) and two
other squads, but they died to Dante and his men. Kharn and the Blood thrister kill most of the
rest of his HQs. the terms and my bikes killed most of his troops,

sorry it was a bad day for the BA

oh my friend's army is having a lot of problems vs My World Eaters. I think my recoded 4 or 5
wins to 0 BA wins. It is the fearless thing that kills him. once he is in HtH he can not get out to
charge again. and BeZs do not need the change to be real good in HtH. when it is 5 vs 5 in HtH
15 dice vs 10. and that is just the dice before power weapons(Axes of Khorne) and what not.
but I will say I do lose a lot of men on a BA charge but not enough to kill the whole squad, and
that is where his problem is his Death Company and HQ squads get stuck in HtH and let me get
charge with my HQ and more Bezs. and I always try to put my Daemons on his Charactors. In
the last game his Chaplin went down to bloodlets and Juggernaughts. But it was funny when
Dante failed two Ld checks against Kharn.

Since I started playing Space Crusade in 1991/1992.

Erm, lots of possibilities. I've got a nice big 7000pt army from which I can take just about any
BA unit available.

Oh, and I have a fetish about the Chaplain models! (Largely due to the character heavy 2nd
edition), I have loads of Chaplains. Terminator Chaplains, Biker Chaplains, Death Company
Chaplains, standard Marine Chaplains! Still in character with the BA don't you think?

The only BA model I don't have (ironically!) is the Chaplain Lemartes model. I hate it. It reminds
me of a distressed chicken.

I can't blame you about the Chaplain Lemartes model! I got one a while back, but ended up
swiping his arm (and a couple of other odd things) for use with another Chaplain of mine! :-)

hello fellow blood angels
i started 40K maybe 2-3 years ago(as blood angels) i only really played off and on until 6 months
ago. Now I am finishing up my first 1500 point tournament army and am planning on going to my
first tournament either on March 30th(store run), or on April 20th(Rouge trader) This spring
break i have also painted my army too!

I am planning on having an army like this for the tournament:

HQ
Chaplain with jump pack and bolt pistol

Elites
Veteran Assault squad with 6. melta bombs and some plasma or melta weapons

Troops
10 man tactical squad with vet. sarge andmelta gun in a rhino wiht smoke launchers and extra
armor.

10 man tactical squad with vet. sarge and plasma gun in a rhino with smoke launchers and extra
armor.

Scout squad with 4 snipers

Scout squad wiht cc weaps(if i have points to fit these in)

Fast Attack
Attack bike squad: 2 Abikes with multi meltas

Attack bike squad: 3 Abikes with heavy bolters

Heavy Support
Preadator Annihilator with lascannon side sponsons.

around 1500 points

that is the army i hope to field at the tournament. Sorry to not include points, i am going to make
the final draft when i go to the store today and i cant really change anything since the tournament
is so close.

Greetings. I've been playing BA's for 3 years now. I have no real tactical problems at this
moment, but i also havent been playing much lately.
Here's the 1500 point list i plan on using at a tourny in 2 weeks, and edward has my 1700 Grand
tournament list on his site.
HQ:
Chaplain-jump pack, plasma pistol, death co.
Librarian-power weapon, plasma pistol, termy honours (he rides with a tactical squad in rhino)

Troops:
-9 man tac squad with flamer and veteran sarge with power weapon, mounted in a smoke
launchered rhino

yeah, ive just started but ive played 3 battles against
the forces of darkness (chaos,dark eldar)
my main tactical problem is that my tanks get taken out
too quickly [tips? e-mail me at adjfifteen@aol.com]

i only have:

1 tactical squad w/veteran sgt
3 scout bikes
and a hq squad.

i usually borrow some units from
my mate who has a 5,000+ army (novamarines)
but my army is growing as i speak.

++++++ hello there!

I love having full squads if I can get them! But sometimes I find something I want that I can only
afford if I drop a couple of regular marines from several of my squads - the practice doesn't
weaken those squads terribly, and it often lets me buy an entirely new unit that can help the whole
army moreso than the extra tac marines.

3 ten man squads with 2 heavy weapons each

or two 7 man squads and two eight man squads is just as many people but now I have four units
(instead of three) and i have eight heavy weapons (instead of the six you get with three tac
squads). Now some codex armies push this theory to the max and take minimal tac squads for
the sole purpose of maxing out their heavy weapons - but this too is a mistake for with so few
people it leaves the unit very vulnerable to becoming useless after taking just a couple of
casualties. For this reason (and because we Blood Angels tend to lose people to the DC) seven
in the minimal number that I'll field in a squad, I feel better with eight.

The exception for me is that I've found it useful to take a devastator squad in a razorback (only
carries 6 marines) and that's fine for me - the mobility of that vehicle and the shootiness of the unit
allow it to be extremely potent for the turn or two that it needs to be useful (with my tactics that's
all we need it to do - any further achievement is a bonus). :-)

been playing blood angles for 11 years and still counting!!!

although i have been side tracked with eldar and tau mostly, and delved a little in to nids, orks,
and chaos!!!

but i still love my Angels!!!

i have had a nice even amount of wins and loses, but the one army i have yet to get the hang of
(no matter what army im using!!!) so any help here would be awesome!!!

asfar as an army list, to be honest it changes every game!!

have been play since the codex came out in second ed. 40k. The only problem I have is my dice.
They roll 1s for black rage on units I do not want to move and anything else on the units I want to
move. My army list is varied, but mainly it consists of-

HQ- Sanguinary High Priest w/Honor Guard tooled to the max
with Sanguinary Priest(large point unit but effective)

Troop- 10 man tac squad w/flamer mounted in Rhino

Reworking it now. Going with a chaplain with Jump Pack, a SHP with HG in a Rhino, 4 tac
squads with Rhinos or Razorbacks, 3 vet assault squads (2 melta-guns each) and 2 Dev Squads
(1 w/ 4 ML, 1 w 2 LC, 2 PC. I'm not putting any heavy weapons with the tac squads, since I
figure they'll be moving every round. the tac squads will have a mix of assault weapons (plasma,
melta or flamer)

I got a question about the Black Rage. If a Rhino or Razorbacks moves forward because of the
rage, how far can it move during movement and still fire?

the normal rules still apply

still = all weapons
6" = one weapon

(unless it is fast, 6" = all 12" = one weapon)

so if you blake rage and move you can only shoot one weapon, if you black rage and move over
6" you can't shoot!

not so bad for rhino's, but can suck for razor backs!!

ive been playing marines for a year, BA for a week.
no real problems...just have to pick up some more BA style models(more assult marines, more
scouts with ccw's and a furioso)
no proven lists as of yet but i do love having a squad of 10veteran assult marines with termie
honors and all ccw's(tons of attacks on the charge!! BLOOD!!) i will be building my BA army
around this unit and my hefty number of ccw's scouts (actual number is undecided but i think at
least 2 squads of 10)

Yep I have just decided to dust off my BA from 2nd ed and use them again

I have played 40k for two years

I stopped as everyone else decided to do SM but now that they have gone and started something
else I thought may as well get my marines back in shape

Well I started my Blood Angels force about 3 months ago. I love my little red devils, but I have
found that my “style” is more in tune with the Deathwing, but that’s another story.

No probs with the Blood Angels that can’t be fixed with more experience. :) So here’s my

Answer
1. Started playing again after a 10 year gap, about 18 months to date. All the army is Mk6
variation with the bumpy shoulder pad & "womble" style helmet.
2. Too many models to pick from! changed my opinions several times every enemy is different
but I win more than I lose.
Most people I play against and any tounament games are usually 1000pt - 1500pt games.
3. Won't post a list - too many variations!

Large Death company with jump packs*, smaller DC with Rhino, several Chaplains with various
weapons. My current favourite has a thunderhammer. 5 tactical squads, 4 razorbacks (4X
twinlinked plasma guns, las cannons. 2X heavy bolters 2x TW las cannons, 2X multi-meltas) 2
rhinos, 2X 10 assault marines, 1 unit with jump packs 1 without. 10 man devestator squad, bike
squadron of 5 (incl 2X melta guns) attack bike with multi melta. land speeder, land speeder
typhoon. land raider crusader. Furioso (painted as if Moriar the chosen) 2X drednoughts.
Vindicator. terminator squad (incl assault cannon & h/flamer) a 7 man assault terminator squad
(LC's) 2 scout squads (1 squad with all sniper rifles) A selection of other heros and veteran sgts
with different weapons & wargear.

Think thats about it....

* I also have a Death Company army - last count at least 2000pts

Played original 40K 10 years ago. Reborn as a Blood Angel collector about 6 months ago.

Brother Edward, I visited your site and really liked it. Cool.

My current army is in development, mostly characters (more for painting purposes at the moment,
hence no tactical problems). There's something about the BA's that just rocks! It has me back on
40K with a vengeance.

I've been playing Blood Angles for 4 years now. I haven't played any games larger than 1200 pts.
My army list evolves around:

Chaplain with jump pack, deathmask, plasmapistol.
Death Company with Jump Packs

Librarian, jump pack, plasma pistol, force weapon.

1 Land Raider Promeithius.

3 Furioso Dreadnoughts

3 10 man tac squads with an open choice between any heavy and assault weapons.
1 10 man scout squad, 9 snipers 1 heavy bolter.

3 Dreadnoughts, twin linked lascannons and Missle Launchers. Working on Plasma gun Arms.

Adding some Assault Terminators and an honor guard to my list of choices. Someday a
Whirlwind, a complement of landspeeders and another assault squad.

Haven't been around for a while, but back for a time now.

1) Played BA for nearly 11 years (has it really been that long!)
2) I tend to have a problem with Eldar (unfortunate really as
they are my regular opponents!)

Have yet to try this army out, and it is pretty far from my old arangement. I also have lists tailored
to specific army types (Eldar, swarms, power armor), but this is my most versitile,
whatever-comes-up army. The strategy is basically what Brother Edward has laid out, everything
moves foward under cover (except the dread) and then assaults at once. I have never played with
a dread before (don't even own the model, just going to borrow one for now), but my
devostators weren't getting the job done, so they are being replaced by the speeders and dread.

The SHP is in there so I can get some power weapons concentrated on where ever their best
troops are, and will stick with one of the larger AS's (DC and vet squad). Not sure if I should
take him out, he is a lot of points, but I like getting those power weapons all in one place, and
with the re-rolling. And if I can keep them behind the DC, they ought to survive pretty well.

To deal with tanks, I have the dread, the speeders (which I think are GREAT at tank busting,
8+2d6 in the rear armor, and most single tanks are more than the 130 points they are together.
plus they go nicely with a highly mobile army), one melta in a tac squad, two meltas in the vet
squad, and the two misile launchers in the tacs. Will this get the job done in 1500 point battles?

You don't have to read everything if you don't want to!

1: I have been playing for ~7 years.
I started in the winter of 1995 when i was 16 years old, and at this time it was the sec.ed.. on the
market. (If you want to read a boring history on how i began with Blood Angel's! Go further
down)

2: Well now in the 3rd ed. you have the problem shooting, so it is mostly that. Even after 7 years i
havent got a "real" army as you will se a bit later.

Oohhh and my biggest problem is ME. ???????? you might think.
I just love the close combat "game"! When i build my army i take alot of assault often the
strongest(veteran assaults), i was thrilled when i found the chapter appendix in the rulebook that
BA's could take assault as troops, and i was disapointed when the codex did'nt have that. And
besides i don't have the models for assault!!! When i began playing there was only assaults in
metal(same with terms) so it was'nt cheap!

3: I don't have a army list on me at the moment but i can list what i have.

HQ:

Dante

Mephiston(he is my personal favorit i just love him)

Tycho

Corbulo

The Blood Angel chaplain with 9 Death company(this is acually the first box i ever bought)

The old Tycho model that have the same typ of mask and thingy over his head that Dante have

Chaplain lemartes

A terminator captain

A terminator librarian

The honourguard box

The vindicare assasin(the first one)

And last but not lest:
BrotherCaptain Marius, Commander of the first company and the second in command after
Dante.
I have the stats somewhere but i cant find them at the moment! But he have got a Term armour
and a pair of lightning claws, and some other godies.

Elit:

8 teminaters, 1 seargant, 1 assaultcannon(more to come),
1 cyclone miss..., 5.. i mean 4 lightning claw terms(used a pair of claws to build my Marius, i just
cut of the hands from the new term captain and cut of the arms from the claws and combind
them, it's a lovly model, when i see the model the only thing i can think of is "Come get some")

9 veteran assault 1 veteran seargant(can be used as a normel assault)

Troops:

~40 of the old plastic marines(4 seargants and 4 missile launchers included, and most of the 40
models not painted, hey try painting 40 models without being bord when you have cooler models
like term, dread and characters!)

13 marines, 1 seargant, 1 missile launcher(the new plastic models)

8 scouts with sniper/bolt/shootgun, 1 seargant, 1 heavy bolter.

4 cc scouts, 1 seargant.

Fast attack:

3 measly bikes???

At this spot there should be ~30 assault(sigh Money you know)

Heavy support:

A "Baal" predator

A original predator( the old one, destructor)

A land raider( the new one)

The new devestator squad box

That is probably it and the points cost of all of this is some where around/betwean e.t.c.
4500-5000 points!!

The boring history!
when i first came in to the store and had been there for some time, i had chosen to become a sm
player, and my chois of chapter was Legion of the damned, ???? you might think(becose L.o.t.D.
was no chapter in that time, it was only a wery mighty squad that you only could have one squad
of in your army), well i was new on the field of 40K and i thought they looked cool in their black
armour with flames.
So the next day i had money with me and thinking that it was L.o.t.D. i bought a box with the text
Death company, during the day i found out that it was a special unit of the Blood Angel's and
after reading alot about them i got stuck, and hear i am a Blood Angel's fanatic that always have
to write the whole name Blood Angel's instead of writing........BA!

Im realy sorry i became so long!!!!.

what units I am going to use,as all my units are worked out.This makes it easier than taking a set
amount at any one time and gives me a slight advantage against my opponents.
