Hey all! Im going to advise everyone (including vets.....sorry) about
EXTREMELY effective units that can be used against necrons, and thier uses
on the field against those nasty warriors of the old.....
-The First Instalment Of "Is That A Necron? Or A Toaster On Legs?"
Will Be Rateings And Tactical Advice On The Best Overall Units.
-The Second Instalment Will Be on The Most Effective Wargear And Wargear
Combos To Use Against Necron Armys.
-The Third Will Be On Anti-Necron Tactics.
-And The Grand Finale, How Necrons Will Strike At Your Army, And How
To Counter That Fearful Horde From The Old!
This Essay Will Be On The Best Overall Units To Use Against Necrons,
"Is That A Necron? Or A Toaster On Legs?" Will Be In Weekly Instalments,
Because I Is Just SO Long! Sit back, relax and enjoy the show.....oh, and
if you know this or dont really care.....slash your seats! (note: point
costs as well as over all effectiveness taken into consideration!) OK,
HERE WE GO!
Number One On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
10 Strong Blood Angel Scout Squad.....
These are NASTY against those slow I2 Warriors. They walk through terrain
like it is nothing (well, nearly) and when they assult they get the normal
BA bonus` as well as one extra attack over there elder brothers, tactical
marines......40 chargeing attacks are very nice, especially when at I5,
S5 and to top it off, they are only 13pts a piece!! Add a vet sarge here
for extra nastyness, i would recomend a thunder hammer OR pair of lightning
claws.....Use them to attack the flanks of the necron force......annoy
them to make silly mistakes, and remember.....SCOUTS CAN DO ANYTHING!
Number Two On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
6 Strong Blood Angel Bike Squadron.....
These road hogs are just beasts! On the charge they are S5, T5, I5!!
Though a little expensive, they are EXTRAMLY effective for the points you
pay for them! I would Recomend 5 bikes, 2 meltaguns, attack bike with multi-melta,
vetsarge with ether lightning claw, OR thunder hammer (i prefer hammer)
You can use two different tactics with these, they are.....
Pull Away Barrage: With this tactic use another unit (preferably a
fire support one!) to create a screen of fire while this squad gets into
postion. When you get the chance choose a target (preferably Immortals
or something) and sit 11" ish behind them, and throw everything you have
(bikes only) and wait.....if they charge you, it worked, and hopefully
you will have taken down some with the melta weapons fire before they assult,
when they do, you have just pulled a EXTREAMLY deadly unit away from the
main battle line, weakening it significantly! And yes, expensive, but life
saving bait!
Run `Em Down!: With this tactic, set it up behind the main battle line
(yes the necons) and CHARGE a unit like a unit of warriors which is over
12 or flayed ones.....
(Pssst! These are also good for 'cleaning' up after an assult!)
Number Three On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
Furioso and 'Normal' Dreads.....
Ok, here they are, the aposolutly best unit at holding up Immortals,
Flayed Ones, Tomb Spyders and EXTREAMLY large squads of warriors (@#%$
toasters!) I LOVE the furioso with heavy flamer and meltagun OR the 'normal'
dreadnought with ether plasma cannon-heavy flamer, Multimelta-Heavy flamer
OR TL Lascannon-Heavy Flamer! I really prefer the ones with weapons over
the ones without.....use these in conjunction with death company and devistators,
you dont need a description on how to use them......i think you know!
Number Four On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
10 Strong Space Marine Scout 'Shooty' Squad.....
Ok, ill give you one guess what these are for, and what they are equiped
with.....nope not fast enough (hehehe).
Ok, I equip mine with 8 sniper rifles, one missile launcher and one
vet sarge with a special weapon of some discription.....cause i dont really
have a favourite....use these as a fire base, in cover, use them to silence:-large
warrior squads (over 12), C`tan, Destroyers, Heavy Destroyers, Lords, Immortals
and other T5 or more stuff.....the idea of shooting the warriors, is that,
normally a player will place a squad or more in front of his 'good' element
(C`tan, Lords, Assulty Toaster Fun......) so if you can manage to pin them
(good luck!) you WILL holt thier whole advance! They will all get stuck
behind these stupid warriors which will be stiffs.....hehehehe! This unit
also provides nice fire support for bikes and the like!
Number Five On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
Chaplin And Death Company.....
Well, show those necrons that they arent the only ones that can just
get up after getting a limb or something shot off! You know what to do
with these!
Number Six On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
Whirlwind MRLV`s.....
These are apsolutly PERFECT at killing scarabs, tomb spyders and most
of all wraiths! Those wraiths will hide behind EVERYTHING just to get at
you.....they can move through cover with ease and have a good invulnerable
save.....Thats why you must shoot over those mountains and the like! [:)]
Oh, and just another thing, even one casulty to a wraith squad WILL cripple
the overall units effectiveness......whirlwinds are cheap, and easy to
hide.....they will survive.....just keep firing those rockets at those
wraiths!
Number Seven On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
Devistators.....
Ok, These are the best ALL ROUND fire support you can get! Get a 6
strong squad with plasma cannon, lascannon, 2x missile launchers (i find
that this is the best combo) it them beside a razor back with:- 1) Lascannon
with twinlinked plasma guns, 2) Twin-Linked Lascannons OR 3) Multimelta
and hunter killer! Sit the razor back behind cover, when it is your turn,
roll it out, fire the main weapon, and support those devies! These are
quite good at silencing the masses of warriors! Beware to not to take too
many hits!!
Number Eight On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
Sanguinary High Priest OR Librarian, Assult Terminators and Land Raider
Crusader!!!
Now THIS is a unit of death!! The reason it is so low on the top ten,
is because of the HUGE cost! Anyways, i like 4 thunder hammers and storm
shields, 2 With Lightning Claws, A vet sargent with Pair Of Lightning Claws,
Master Crafted Weapon, The Priest With a pair of lightning claws, Terminator
Armour, Death Mask, Basic Landraider crusader.....BUT all this comes to
a massive grand total of 750pts!!! It can wipe out a whole warrior squad
per turn if not, they are SURE to run.....hehehehhe!
Number Nine On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
Attack Bike Squadron.....
These are very effective in groups of three with multi-meltas! Use
these to support you assults, DO NOT use them as a direct attack vehicle
because they WILL lose! They are expensive, so use them with care! They
Are PERFECT for supporting death company or bike squads, sofening up the
enermy before the bikes or DC go in for the kill, charge these in as well
so they dont get shot.....S5, T5, I5, Sv 2+ is a nice support.....remember
12" movement can rage, which wont effect them much, and can relocate with
the snap of your fingers! A MUST against necrons! If use correctly, they
are one of the most deadlyest units on the table! They can also have a
try at killing those EXPENSIVE monoliths!
Number Ten On My Top Ten Toaster Killer List Is:-
The Vindicator......
If You are to use this tank, it is to be used with EXTREME care! Moved,
Cant shoot, but out in the open, its 13 front armour is near useless! But
on the other hand, it does have a VERY powerful ordanence weapon.....all
you have to do is use it ONCE, landing it right on target, and it has served
its purpose, and most probebly made its EXPENCIVE points back.....hopefully
more! [:)]
