Here's a detail shot of the top of the banner. Take a close look at the blood drop there on the skull - has a kind of 3D effect doesn't it? This is intentional. This skull is supposed to be a decorative icon, thus I reasoned the teardrop would be solid and have shape. So I used straight GW "red gore" and built up a couple of layers. When it was dry (doesn't take long for such tiny amounts of paint to dry) I hit it with a touch of gloss coat which will make the highest point shine (as you can see here) which allows us to perceive the depth better :-)
