the fuzzy black base on the left reflects very little light
and thus truly camoflages it's contours as an object - which downplays
how much one notices it - allowing the figure to be the most important
part of the model :-)
I'm really happy to have found this stuff :-)
That product name again:
"Model Master - Simulated Carpeting"
available in hobby and model shops everywhere :-)
just be sure to wear a dustmask when you use this stuff - it WILL get
into your nose unless you actually take precautions! But if used with respect
it's quite harmless - and useful! :-)
I have a little tray with the black stuff in it - I use a thick black
acrylic paint to paint the mini's base - then I immediately stand the mini
in the black flocking and gently use a wide (and completely dry) paintbrush
to pile the black stuff all up onto the base - I then (using the brush)
press down a bit to make sure these tiny black particles get stuck in the
paint on the base. I then leave it like that while the paint dries (I make
the mini stand in the corner of the box) then after a bit I lift up the
mini - give the bottom of the base a couple of soft taps with a pair of
pliers (kinetic impact to dislodge the excess black stuff!) then you're
done! :-) go put your newly flocked mini back on the front lines again!
:-)
hope this helps ~ Brother Edward
